well, for starters, it is an aged game system, I think it was released in 1986… so theres no surprise its broken. But you can get a Playstaion nice and cheap, cause those can play all of your PS1 games.
Could be a loose cord. It could be also that it’ll power up, but nothing will be on the screen cause the cord to the tv gets loose in the back easy, I notice this with my ps2 as well, which uses the same type of cord.
If it has crapped out, you can get used ones reasonably cheap.

You can buy a new one for 20 dollars Or you can open it the power button connects to a chip using a ribbon try dusting that ribbon or use thermal glue and apply a VERY small amout Thermal glue can be found at ‘’Radio shack’’Or a store in that kinda stuff I would rather buy one for 20$ they are so old now compared to the Wii,Xbox 360 and ps3 Good luck BTW:Dusting the ribbon is safer
Have you checked if any of the leads have came out of the back? Make sure they’re all plugged in properly.
I know this may sound strange but try placing the playstation upside down and see if it will work.
