YOUR TALKING TO A LADY WHO GOT PREGNANT ON THE PILL AND TOOK 12 TESTS SOME SAID YES SOME SAID NO MORE NO THAN YES. THE PILL CAN ALTER YOUR RESULTS.

Answer #2

No.

A pregnancy test reacts to a hormone in your urine that can ONLY come from being pregnant. When you’re pregnant your body produces a hormone called the HcG.

Birth control pills contain one of two hormones estrogen or progesterone.

Only medications containing HCG can cause a “false positive” Such as…A.P.L., Pregnyl, and Profasi. If you are taking hCG for any reason, ask your doctor how long to wait before you can take a pregnancy test. Oral contraceptives (the Pill), antibiotics, hormones, and other drugs CANNOT cause a false positive. ONLY drugs containing hCG can cause positive pregnancy tests.

A false negative can happen if your urine isn;t concentrated enough or your body may be in very early stages of pregnancy and not producing HCG or enough to be detected.

The pill isn’t always effective - especially if it’s not taken regularly or if you’re taking other medications that may cancel it out. If you are on birth control and get a positive pregnancy test, odds are it’s correct. Reason being, a pregnancy test isn’t going to test positive for a hormone that isn’t there, it’s rare. If this happened to you, take another test, if it’s positive go to your doctor for a blood test to confirm. I know a couple of people who have gotten pregnant while on the pill.
