ANSWER #1 of 1

Oscar Wilde wrote the story in 1890, and the setting was of the period. The characters are very naive and indulgent. Dorian, who is young and handsome, fears the loss of his best characteristics. The book is excellent, because it really depicts elite life as it was in the 1890's. I saw one of the first "talking " pictures made of it and was happily enthralled, although I still liked the book better. Enjoy them both
