How old does a person have to be to purchase a house?

Answer #1

You can buy a house at any age if you have the money to pay for it right away. To get a mortgage, you have to be 18 :]

Answer #2

No…you can’t buy unless you can legally sign a contract. To do that, you need to be 18 in all 50 states.

B/c there are disclaimers, waivers, etc, involved. You can have your name on a deed under the age of 18, afaik, but you’d need to check with a lawyer, first.
