Yesterday I asked about being too thin and it stopping you from getting pregnant. And people said it wasn't as much as being too thin, and more about missing periods.
So i was wondering how many periods missed should be a concern. I have missed about 5 months, but i didn't really think much of it. (i am 100% NOT pregnant)
I am 165cm tall and weigh about 41kilos. I don't want to not be able to have children, because i see them in my future soon!
So, should i be concerned?
You're about 5'4 weighing barely 90 pounds. The problem is weight frankly; if you have less than 5% fat in your body you won't be able to have periods.
Skipping periods won't do you much good because in all honesty, you can skip them for various reasons. Or your periods can simply be irregular, it's not unheard of that's for sure.
What you need to do is what Mackenzie suggested, go to your oby/gyn and ask about fertility, having a proportional weight, and maybe some counseling to because having a child is a big step. Don't think that just because you're 18 you're ready for it; almost no one is.
Not to make assumptions here, I do have a friend who was your weight at 18, but eating disorders have a serious impact on the body. Either women cannot conceive or they have ridiculously high rates of losing the baby. Regardless, at your weight you're looking at serious fertility issues. Your body has stopped its periods because it is underweight. When a person is significantly underweight the body protects itself because a baby would just be a drain on it. Yes you need to be concerned and you need to go talk to a doctor.
You need to speak to a doctor about this. Missing a period because of extreme weight issues is not healthy, you need to get checked out.
Sweetie you are SEVERELY underweight. Please see your doctor. You could already have permanent damage to your ovaries and other organs.
Once you haven't had you period in about 3 months is when you should go see a doctor and speak to them about it.
