Parents smothering me.

Can parents tell you who you can or cannot date, when your 17?

Answer #1

I dont think your parents just looked at the guy and said no he is no good for you if you parents dont like him there a pretty good chance he not good for you

Answer #2

Yep, they sure can. As long as they are your providers they will tell you what you can and can’t do. It is up to you whether or not you do it. Most of the time though, parents will see something in someone that you don’t…or won’t… Usually we parents are more open minded to a person faults than you are since love is blind.

Try this. Ask them what it is about the guy they don’t like. See what they have to say. Maybe it is as simple as a misunderstanding.

Answer #3

They Can, And they cant. Its complicated technically you are still in their control EG. living with tehm usign theiri money, yo uknwo the normsl things you do while you live with your parents, they can tell you this for many reasons, just try adn sit them down and tell them how you feel adn ask them for a chacne before they say no.

Answer #4

They can–but if you really like a guy, it might help to let your parents meet him and explain to them why you like him and how he treats you.

Answer #5

Hi yes and no but parents will be parents if your living under one roof they will say their opinion but I guess you can still meet up will that person dispite their dislike but don’t invite that person over for sunday lunch!

Answer #6

When my parents tell me I’m not allowed to date a person I tend to want to more haha. In PA you are not considered an adult until you’re 18 so technically yes they can.

Answer #7

unless your parents are super strict then I think it’s okay for them to monitor who you date!
