Parents, who to sit next to?

I have to go to a funeral tomoro and both my parents are going however they wont sit next to each other (divorced) and I have to choose one to sit next to who do I choose?

Answer #1

Be with one parent during the service and the other at the grave site. Talk to both of them before hand so they will know, but make your decision before you talk so it doesn’t set up a tug of war for your company. If that won’t work, go with a friend (if possible) and sit next to neither one.

Answer #2

Spend some time with both - let them know you’re there for them.

Answer #3

You could sit in between them, if they can’t be mature enough to even sit together for a funeral.

Answer #4

Do you see one parent more than the other? Sit with the one you see the least…Is one parent going to have a harding time with this funeral than the other? Sit with the one who needs your support…

You can make choices based on things other than feeling like “the rope” being pulled between two people…
