paintball problem

Hi everyone. I just got a tippmann 98. however, when I screw in either the c02 or nitrogen and shoot, it will keep shooting for several seconds without my finger on the trigger. my gun is not automatic or anything. also, most of the time the paintball is not even shot. this must be a problem. I would really like help, I am new to paintball and dont really know what could be wrong.

thank you very much.

thing is, I bought it online so I can’t. the problem is not with the paintballs, as this happens even when there is nothing in there. whats happening must be a problem with the gun, as I tried it with both co2 and nitrogen tanks.

could it be, though, that this happened because the tanks were low?

there could be something thats jamming it or maybe you have the wrong size of paintballs. check for that. if thats not the case, go to whoever sold it to you and ask them. they should be able to help you with this problem.

it sounds like you have a sticky valve- I would try a few drops of oil near the chamber mouth and let it run around the valve opening.

if that doesn’t work it will need to be disassembled and the valve greased, I wouldn’t recommend doing this unless you are part gunsmith.

air guns are tricky beasts, if you don’t get a piece placed back in the right way- your gun will never be the same.

it could also possibly be in the sear and trigger- I would put a couple drops of oil in that area as well.

IF YOU CAN FIND IT - POWDERED GRAPHITE WOULD BE THE BEST TO LUBRICATE THESE PARTS- SHOULD BE AVAILABLE AT MOST AUTOMOTIVE STORES.
