How to achieve orgasm while on antidepressants?

Has anyone had problems achieving an orgasm while on Effexor XR. I know this is a common side effect but any suggestions on how to overcome this barrier. We have tried MANY things and I’m to the point of giving up. Help!!!

Hi,

here are some suggestions.

* Talk to your doctor about changing your dose.
* Consider a drug that requires only a once-a-day dose, and schedule sexual activity before taking that dose.
* Talk to your doctor about adding or switching to an antidepressant that may counteract these effects, such as bupropion (Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin SR, Wellbutrin XL) or mirtazapine (Remeron, Remeron SolTab).
* Talk to your doctor about taking a medication intended to directly treat sexual dysfunction.
* Talk to your doctor about a "drug holiday" — stopping medication for a day or so each week.

Yes. My dosage was switched, but we’re still going ot have to get more in depth with it, maybe go as far as changing it. I can’t orgasm at all with him or alone. It’s frustrating as hell - I’m sure you understand quite well. It may be embarrassing, but your doctor needs to know that kind of stuff in order to help you. If you can’t achieve orgasm on that particular medication, maybe it’s time to switch to something else.
