What are your opinions on forced marriages?

I think it is horrible! It is your life and you should be allowed to chose the person you wish to spend the rest of your days with! its not like it is a day you must spend with that person, you have to face that person every single day, someone that you don’t love. I think marriages should only happen when the two people truly love each other and are willing to make that commitment.

While i dont agree with it, i cant condem it. Its a part of their culture. i dont agree with cutting off little boys forskin, but that doesnt changenew parents from doing it. They never talk about it, but some arranged marriages actually turn out happy ya know.

I think not that great!! u can’t choose the guy you like or even to married to =[ and also you don’t have that much freedom who you want to choose to married..

I was raised in a country that allows you to choose your partner (several times, if need be) so I don’t believe in forced marriage. However, it is not my place to intervene in the affairs of another culture- live and let live.

I don’t think it’s fair. You should be able to choose who you want to marry. I think I’d rather be alone my whole life then being forced to spend it with someone I don’t love. And I don’t care if it’s a part of some damn culture. Everyone should have the right to choose who they marry and what they want to do with their life

I’m not entirely sure what you mean by forced marriages. Are you talking about arranged marriages? I think it depends on the people. Some people are fine with it. Some people are not. As for the cultural sensitivity we all seem to feel the need to think about. I was brought up and come from several cultures. I personally think that there are some things I dont have to agree with. Being culturally sensitive or not. I dont have to try and understand something I think is idiotic. Arranged marriage is one of those things that is hard for outsiders to understand. I honestly think it is fine if those who are in it agree with it. If they dont, I think it’s wrong.
