i opened up a saving and a checking accounts.. help?

i know it sounds stupid but this is my first time…what should i know is there a monthly fee i shoud know about?

Answer #1

You opened two accounts that basically serve the same function????? Most banks will charge their customers a monthly fee but before you opened your account, all these information should have been provided to you by the bank. The majority of the banks will charge you a monthly “processing fee” which is either deducted from your saving or cheque accounts. Also, depending on the bank’s policy, you could be hit with a fee every time you withdraw money from an automated teller machine. Unfortunately you have opened the accounts already, I was going to suggest opening accounts with a bank that could waiver these fees if you still a student.

Answer #2

There are many banks who do not charge a fee, especially credit unions who generally have free checking and savings. If you are being charged a fee, I suggest closing the account and opening one up elswhere. If you owe them a few dollars, pay it and move on.
