Ohio medical assisiting vs 14 yr old felony

14 years ago I was convicted of forgery2, knowing and recieving and bail jumping in ky. I’ve lived in ohio for 10 years. I had applied for a mangers job @ cash advance an the only thing that showed up on my background chk was speeding tickets. I’m about to start school for med asst and very worried that this background check will be much more intense. Before my felonies 14 years ago I had a handful of misdemeanors in tn (assault) stupid stuff. I’m very worried, can anybody provide me w/ any insight? My last job was gm @ holiday inn, do you think that will help give insight to my character?

Misdemeaners generally do not show up on background checks - and even if they do a company is not allowed to use them against you.

As for the felony charge, it depends on how extensive the background check is. Some do not go back that far and some do. All you can do is be honest on your application about it and provide refrences that can vouch for your good nature and responsibility.
