Ok first let me confess to something... for the past Christmas, I asked for a touchscreen cell and I actually got it from my parents. BUT, I have noticed that, that is the only kind of cell phones people have these days. What is the obession about them that make ppl want to own them. If I was asked that, I'd say it's because of the internet access you get from them. But, what do y'all think is the obession that ppl have with them?
Some people just want the latest technology in everything. Part of this way of thinking is due to the way advertising and promotion is cleverly done to try and make us think we need it. There are some drawbacks, many of these phones require an internet account to even work, which raises your monthly fees. ( Eg: I have internet right here and don't want or need it on my phone although I could log on if I wanted to for a fee) Another is user friendliness (too many features most of us won't use but still have to wade through them) I've noticed the people I know who have i phones, ect have dead batteries all the time, all those features must really drain the power.
I am rather torn when it comes to touch screen phones. I hate getting fingerprints of screens, and if you have a touchscreen phone, you are kind of asking for it. However, when you have to attend as many boring seminars as I do, the ability to text silently is a wonderful thing. I love that touchscreen phones dont make the horrible noise buttons on phones do!. Thats pretty much the only thing that would entice me to buy a touchscreen phone. Aside from that I have no interest. The internet on my current non-touchscreen phone is fine.
You can get internet access from non-touch phones too.. I personally hate touch phones, their too touch sensitive! I always mess around with friends that have them when their writing or doing whatever and stretch my hand over and mess up their screen by tapping my fingers on it, which I'm glad I don't have one cause I'd be pissed if people did that to me. I'm good with my Blackberry Bold :)
I still use a flip phone, and only occasionally. I spend way too much time staring at a screen at home; the last thing I need is another one small enough to carry with me so I can squint at it everywhere else. I'd rather walk around looking up at the clouds and treetops (when I'm not admiring all the eccentric-looking people).
I personally love them :) It's just high tech. Games to keep me busy when I'm bored. Easy internet usage. Fun texting & chat apps. It's a pakage deal, like a mini computer :D
It's that touchy-feely thing that we're obsessed with. Plastic won't say No means no....LOL
