Answer #14

Answer #15

There’s a mix of facts and myth with this one. Pheromones and diet are key. Obviously, recent diet flavours breath, but as many other Brits now eat curry regularly, a ‘blinded breath-smelling’ would not help identify race! Some foods like high-dose garlic can be secreted by the sweat glands, but it varies by individual - that’s where some of the myth comes from. Sexual pheromones are mostly difficult to smell, especially as many now mask them with colognes etc, but there might be a better argument for genetic variance by race in this case. I doubt anyone has cared enough to do the research, but I guess there’d be no shortage of volunteers for a clinical program lol…

Answer #16

Maybe it’s a sacred place…that they don’t want anyone else to go in…or judge them for…?

Answer #17

I don’t think so. I think it’s probably just the food that they eat, or what they use to wash their clothes (different cultures use different types of detergents) , I know in my country there are these people called mennonites who we say smell “different” because they don’t believe in using aritifical soap or perfume , deoderant etc, they only ue natural stuff to bathe with and stuff like that and they use this special powder that’s supposed to be 100% natural ingredients. So it could just be stuff like that, what they are accustomed to using on their skin, what they put in their food, what they bathe with for example.

Answer #24

After living in Europe for 3 years and being in the Middle East for 1 year this is definitely true that different cultures smell different and I would say its because of different cultural hygiene standards, But as far as race, I would say its bogus. Just consider the culture and that is probably what makes the difference.

Answer #25

someone somewhere probably has done a study like that. I have read some interesting studies on pheromones… I have to say, some of the study designs they use are hilarious!

Answer #26

I have noticed it a little bit. Often its just from food, but also I have noticed it can be realted to differences in sebum production etc.

Answer #27

i have noticed it a little..
