No privacy...help me

hey..im 18 and completely fed up…

my parents are completely overbearing and have no respect for my privacy at all.. they are always poking their nose into my private life and its not fair. I am not 10 anymore. they are so overbearing that they look at me funny if im going for a night out and text me constantly if I am. They barge into my room to “open and close my windows” and they are always asking whos on my phone. I have lost my patience and am fed up. Not only that but now my sister is barging into my room and its not fair. Like, Im an adult??!!

Parents often have a very hard time admitting that their kids are growing up or are grown up. They most likely don’t want to let you go. The more you act like an adult the more they will realize that they did a terrific job raising you and be more apt to give you more privacy.

Answer #2

yeah I’ve been telling them that since since I turned 18…do you think its because im the eldest ?

Answer #3

I get that all the time with my dad you have to remind them your adult and prove to them your adult and it might work it has somewhat with my dad he still barges in my room and try to tell me to do I tell him im adult and he says sorry or I no I care that all there reasons why my mom is somewhat like that but I pretty stil do what I want and you insert independence.

Get a job. Get your own cell phone. Move out. That’s what I did 3 years ago, and I havent looked back since! Living the good life. My parents were the same way, and sometimes you just have to show them that you’re an adult for them to treat you like one. Keep in mind though that there are TONS of responsibilities that come along… heat bills, car insurance, health insurance, rent, food, the cost of living is expensive, but you can make it work!!!

Answer #5

yeah, thats what I thought but I dont want to move outta my home…I do love them but its just wrecking my head!

Answer #6

My parents are like that too but then again, I’m just 13. Yeah, move-out if you’re really fed up with it.

Answer #7

I’m thirteen…I have to share a room and I have no door, either. I hate it so much. :/
