why does my newly installed skype download show shapes like circles, stars, plus signs, etc. instead of English?

You may have accidentally indicated a language with special shapes (e.g. Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, etc.). So when those special alphabet shapes are called for your computer sort of guesses, since you don’t have that particular font loaded into your computer. . Bring up your Skype control panel, click on , go to and finally click
. That might do the trick. Good Luck!!

Hello bimjob, Thanks for the reply. The only thing with bringing up skype is the that I don’t know what I’m clicking due to the character sets. There all shapes some of which are planes, peace sign w/a hand, pencil, triangle, circle, etc.. All types of objects and shapes! All I did when I went to the site was hit the download it ask for operating system I chose(Ubuntu) and it downloaded. I installed it on my laptop and pull it up and there it was unreadable - to me anyway.
