Answer #1

I thought it was H1N1?!

Answer #2

I am 37 weeks and my doctor told me I should get both the n1h1 and the flu shot… but then I got the flu before I could get the shot. I was perscribed tamiflu, which is 100% safe to take while pregnant. (It also cost over 100 dollars if you don’t have health insurance) I plan on getting the normal flu shot once I am healthy enough to do so. The n1h1 is a personal choice. I heard they .may have stoped the vaccine for some reason or another, I am not certain though. My doctor said this will be one of the worse flu seasons ever. He also said that by. Getting a flu shot while pregnant it protects your child for 6 months after it is born also, which is a positive. So its up to you. I personally will not be getting the n1h1 vaccine because I am not fond of the fact it is a brand new, maybe next year though.

Answer #5

It is a tough call. I think that all pregnant women need to make an informed decision about this. I am 15 weeks pregnant and still cannot come to a decision. Right now may be a dry spell for the virus as I am only hearing about the vaccine. H1N1 vaccine is a class C drug so there are no studies available to show us if this will harm our child. There is no telling what we could be doing. This vaccine was rushed and I have found few studies on the actual vaccine itself. On the other side, pregnant women automatically have a lowered immune system and also have breathing problems towards the end so H1N1 or any type of flu increases our risk of hospitalization or death. My doctor encourages me to get it as well as regular flu shot. It is really up to us to do our research and make the best decision we can. I have not made that decision yet. I was scheduled to get my regular flu shot 3 weeks ago but came down with a cold and still have it so even when the vaccine does come, who know’s if I will be healthy enough to take it.

Answer #6

I am about 10-12 weeks pregnant and very scared of getting the swine flu. I came down with what I think was just a regular flu about 4 weeks ago and consequently found out I was pregnant. I am debating whether or not to get the N1H1 vaccine but you see and hear all over the news of pregnant women being hospitalized or dying because of the swine flu. Now, I ended up getting the cold again ( I have younger children in Elementary). A co-worker of mine who just had her baby who got the vaccine. Her doctor gave her the N1H1 vaccine before she delivered and she’s fine. She had a mild reaction (diarrhea) but that’s about it. Maybe it is better to get it because the alternative doesn’t look good.

Answer #7

Well I am now 2 days away from my due date and all I had so far was the flu vaccine. My doctor’s office just did not have the n1h1 to give me, so I don’t know what is going to happen

Answer #8

hey harley. I am not pregnant but here is my thoughts on the vaccine. As you may know I work in a nursing home and we all gat the flu shot and h1n1 offered to us for free cause we are at “high risk”. Well 1st of all I have never taken the regular flu shot and I’ve never got the flu. knock on wood. We have to sign our lives away lol, we have to sign a refusal form if we dont want the vaccine and every year they think im crazy cause im like the only one who refuses it. well I take note on the people that due take the shot and they either have a reaction from it or they still get sick later on in the flu season. My Grandma got her shot yesterday and its got her all messed up. She has a fever and she can barly move her arm ect. Anyways the h1n1, I dont trust it. I can just picture a recall or even scarier, some crazy desiese that people are going to get way down the road from it. You know how all these new meds come out and then a little while later you see lawyer commercials about he drug and the problems it causes. I can just picture that happening. Although we had a speaker here at work that said at the peek of the h1n1 virus 40% of our staff will be out sick at one time with this swine flu. So maybe your damned if you do and your damned if you don’t.
