how do I know if my turtles a boy or girl?
We need to know what type of turtle it is. All males have longer, thicker tails than the female. With some species of aquatic turtles - sliders, painteds, cooters, some map species - the male has long front nails, too. Male aquatic turtles WILL NOT have a concave bottom shell (plastron). Male box turtles and tortoises do have concave plastrons, as do many semi-aquatic turtles such as wood and mud turtles, but some female box turtles will have a slightly concave plastron. Male North American box turtles usually have red eyes and females usually have brown eyes.
well I think it might be different with different types of turtles, but if you have the common red-eared slider I read in a book once that if the tail is "long" and thin it is a girl and if it is short and stumpy it is a boy.
I don,t know but I would like to know as I have a baby snapping turtle I,ve had since last september .so if you find out let us know. thanks.
