My Poor Dog

My dog misty has a lump bellow her arm on her belly my dad says its a “sis” what is a sis? and is it dangerous?

Answer #1

Ok…everyone has explained what a cyst is…and what your dog has, may very well be just that. However, we don’t know your dog’s history…was she spayed before she ever went into heat? Did she ever give birth? If she did have pups at some time, the placement of this “lump” below her “arm, on the belly should be checked to make sure it’s not breast cancer.

Certain breeds of dogs are prone to fatty tumors…these contain fat, and grow very slowly. You can have them removed, but they tend to come back. Both vets I go to…one for horses (who also does dogs), and my companion animal vet have both been reluctant to put an older animal thru that surgery, simply because they aren’t dangerous. Sometimes the placement of the fatty tumor maybe such, that the animal is very uncomfortable…in that case I’ve had them removed…2 out of three returned.

Take her in and have her checked…chances are, you’ll come out relieved.

She has never been nuted, never had puppies. She is a bit on the tender side but shes not overweight. It doesnt hurt her at all. but she licks it sometimes. We cant exacly go to the vet right now because of financial issues. But I will asap!! I love my dog! hopefully its nothing dangerous!

Answer #3

A cyst. My cat had one and it got big and the vet popped it and this green crap was everywhere. I nearly threw up. We got antibiotics. Easy fixed. As long as you get it quickly. xxx

Answer #4

You must mean a Cyst! There is no way, your dad can know for sure, if the lump, is actually a cyst, or something more severe, like a tumor. The best way to find out for sure, what type of lump it is, is by having a vet check it out. Your dad is not qualified as a professional vet, to diagnose your dog himself. It can be very dangerous, if it does turns out to be a tumor, which I hope it isn’t., and it’s not taken care of by a vet right away. Even if it is a cyst, and it’s not treated, it can get very infected and painful for your dog! Please take your dog to the vet! That’s the only way, you will know for sure, what the lump is!

Answer #5

I agree to the Vet you must take her! Right away

Answer #6

Maybe a Cyst? Best to get it checked by a vet

Answer #7

Hi, Found this explanation on the net:

A cyst is a closed sac having a distinct membrane and division on the nearby tissue. They may contain air, fluids, or semi-solid material.

A collection of pus is called an abscess, not a cyst. Once formed, the cyst will remain in the tissue permanently unless removed by surgery or by taking medication that will dissolve it.

I would suggest that you arrange to take your dog to be examined by a Vet.
