My highlights turned red!

I have medium brown hair that is highlighted. I let the highlights grow out on top. I bought a highlighting kit and tried to do my own highlights and it turned my hair red. I left the solution on for the time it said. My highlights are red and I hate it! What can I do?

you shouldn’t really use bleach on your hair without professional supervision. It didn’t process long enough and the developer probably wasn’t strong enough to lift your color to a blonde…so it didn’t lift past the red/orange stage. Go to a professional and have them fix it…but TELL THEM you used box color at home…use a deep conditioner a day or so before you go in, wash it that night again and then let it get dirty before you go in…so the bleach doesn’t have to break through and conditioners ect to get the the cuticle
