My dog is crazy

Okay so the deal is, is my dog is crazy. We have a almost 2year old German Shepard and she is still way out of control! She jumps, bites, barks, ect. She still has the habits of a young puppy and she drives everyone crazy! The only thing we got her to stop doing is digging and we need advise! We have never had a dog not listen to us before until Maddie.

I’ve had German Shepherds for nearly 40 years…my advice? Find a trainer, who will teach YOU how to train this pupper to do something…a bored GSD will find it’s own fun, if you don’t have fun with it…I’ve found every one of my German Shepherds a “job”…be it carry the hoses, pull weeds…agility, hell…play frisbee everyday for 40 minutes, and you’ll find your dog much more sedate, will listen well, and wants to do whatever it can to please you…but along as she is full of unreleased energy, she simply cannot sit long enough to “hear” you.

Do you take her for walks? Walking is a great bonding tool…play hide and seek with her (German Shepherds are wonderful Search and Rescue dogs)…Have her find her toys in the yard…any fetch game they are up for…

Leaving her in a pen is the absolute worst thing you can do with a dog as smart as a GSD…They are so people inclined that they will ignore other dogs, just to be with their person…

I think maybe you didn’t investigate the breed before you got her…for that I’m sorry…she’s a beautiful dog.

She’s still young! I’d consider her a baby still. The best thing you can do is get some training classes. It’s too hard to explain over the internet how to calm your ‘crazy’ dog down. Jumping-When she jumps up on you, or anyone else, turn around and ignore the dog. It works. I volunteer at an Animal Shelter, and the dog should either stop jumping on you after you turn away, or she will sit. This will take some time. When you turn around and she doesn’t jump up, reward her and say ‘Good job Maddie!’ (If that’s your dogs’ names) With the barking…is she kenneled? If she is kenneled, she will whine/bark. Give her more attention anyway. I can’t think of anything else, but I hope I could help! :) Like I said, training is what she needs. If you wait to get her training, and won’t work as well. The earlier they dog learns, the better.

Well we only kennel her when we have to go somewhere so she dose not use the bathroom outside of it. and we wouldn’t get another dog if were weren’t going to give it enough attention so don’t worry about that! but thank you and we will try the turn around method the next time she jumps! Thanks

Well the thing is when she is good we reward her tons then when she is bad we stick her in her pen but it still hasn’t done anything. We also have tried putting her in dog class’s but she couldn’t get a long w/ the other dogs. But thanks a to for replying!
