Mother Dog and Pups

My dog had 5 pups. They all have new homes and have been gone since 8 weeks old. A few came back to visit recently and the mother seems to constantly bite and seemingly attack her pups. I think she is actually hurting them because they are yelping. The pups are now 12 weeks old. I’m afraid to let them stay together when they visit. Any ideas? Thanks.

Since they were separated from her four weeks ago, they may still recognize her as their mother but her hormones may have changed and she may no longer recognize them as her pups. Best to keep them separated.

Mom is probably just disciplining them and setting boundaries, I wouldnt worry about it. I mean unless she’s actually growling or threatening them… Which would be a little strange.
