What should I do about this mood problem?

The past 4 years, my parents have been going through a terrible divorce. Things are still bad, but I’ve moved out. But they still get to me.

I used to be happy all the time. Now I get mad and upset at a lot of things. Sometimes when my friends joke around with me, I completely snap at them and just start crying.

They tell me it’s because I’ve bottled things up for so long, that I’ve reached a breaking point. I never complained about the arguing and the whole divorce situation. To top it off, my dog of 13 years died 2 days after my birthday.

This isn’t a sob story. I’m not looking for sympathy. I just want to know, if this is normal? Will it pass on it’s own? My friends say I need to talk to a counselor, but they overreact sometimes. And I don’t want to look like that stupid girl that goes to seek help over something pointless.

So what I’m asking is, is this a normal thing that I can make go away? Or should I talk with a professional?

What you describe is a very common reaction to the sort of things your have had to deal with.

I think a session with a professional counsellor would help.

You may not be looking for sympathy, but you deserve some.
You have had it too tough for too long.

Try and find something to release your anger. Such as a sport of such or even writing in your diary. Counselors are kinda rubbish cause last time I went to one she admitted she couldn’t solve my issue.

I am so sorry to know that. But realizing that those things coming to you just to give you lesson, to test you, to put you in the upper grade if you pass it, you will be likely feel worse. try to look around that lots of people werre having their own problems. control your emotion, let it all out in one time but then you need to put the pieces in order to move on.
