How to do MLA parenthetical citations with a short story?

My teacher’s having us write an essay and I have to cite a short story, but I’m confused. I don’t have the page number it was published in a literary journal, but the author’s last name is swanson. Would that just be: Blah blah blah (Swanson). That look okay…?

I’ve been told that just the author’s last name is fine in parenthesis. However, you should probably discus with your teacher if it is for her or not.
