Does anyone know anything about the Mirena? its a contraceptive. need info please.

Answer #1

its an intraunterine contraceptive that delivers a synthetic form of progesterone directly to your uterus at regular intervals. It needs to be fitted by a GP and it can last for up to five years. You regain fertility almost as soon as it is removed. Some women experience cramping, dizziness and uterine bleeding and it can make your periods irregular initially

Answer #2

oh and its about 99% effective

Answer #3

and opps, i spelt intrauterine wrong. Sorry!

Answer #4

lol. thank you Danielle. now i have a weird question to askā€¦ what if you have that, you have a tampon in and you have sexual intercourseā€¦ Can the device shift?

Answer #5

I would say a tampon would not shift it as it doesnt go as far into your reproductive tract as the device, which sits in your uterus. I dont think sex would move it either as it has been designed with this in mind. They can move in rare cases through the uterine wall but I dont think there would be much chance of that, they are made from a soft flexible plastic. They seem much safer than the older style interuterine contraceptives, like those strange copper things which no one was quite sure how they actually worked!
