Why do we forget about soldiers dying?

I see more people cry over michael jackson dieing then people who are fighting and dieing for this country… People who never even listened to michael jackson are criing… I understand hes a legend but he didnt die saveing us… Why all of a sudden now do you care if he lives or not…? I’ve seen in the past week people criing over michael then I have for the soldiers in the past few months… I just dont think its fair, how sometimes we forget that there are actually people out there right now who are dieing for us everyday, because they choose to… Why do we forget that sometimes? But when a pop singer dies, nobody will let you forget…

Answer #3

I completly agree. We dont see the news and many tv channels mentioning the soldiers who are sacrificing themselves to us. Even though if it werent for them…wed probably be doomed by now, but you have to understand that Micheal Jackson is a LEGEND. everyone knew a lot more about him…than the soldiers fighting for us. he was on tv…a lot of people watch tv…and listen to music…so it can become easy to forget about the soldiers to some people. it is a sad thought, but thats what always happens.

Answer #4

No-one cares about people they’ve never even heard of. This is simply a statement of fact, not a commentary.

Answer #5

You bring up a good point,I’ve thought the same thing about similar situations but it all comes down to people, look at conserts, record sells, actors the publicity they receive and the Money they make it’s not fair to everyone else like the Soldiers that you mentioned,it all comes down to people and the Government,do you realize that Plumbers and Attorneys were the Money makers back in the 1920,s what happened?.

Answer #6

It’s easier to make a spectacle of a celebrity’s death because everybody knows him.

The soldiers who are dying are known by their friends and family, and because they are unknown to the rest of the world, you can’t expect the rest of the world to mourn their deaths.

We can’t have compassion for what we don’t realize is there.

Answer #7

im not saying we have to mourn for each one… thats impossible we do realize its there everyone knows there are people dying for us… people dont KNOW michael jackson but there criing for him

Answer #8

That’s just it - people do know Michael Jackson because he’s always been in the spotlight.

If you take even one of those soldiers and give him the same attention that MJ has had his whole life - you’d see the world mourning him too.

It’s not that people don’t have empathy for those dying, it’s just that if it’s not someone you’ve seen or heard, they’re not as tangible…it’s like mourning a possibility of a person.

Answer #9

dang it just kinda sucks how many people are actually dieing for us… and we sometimes dont give it a second thought im definitly included in this I just really cant understand why its like that.. you know?

Answer #10

yeah I agree they should treat them the same. I mean they both do something for the country so they deserve the same.

Answer #11

another thing.. soilders know the risk they are taking. They are brave, that is true. but they know what they are getting into. Michelas was a shock to everyone.. He was in so manys lives.

My question is.. why are you even comparing??

Answer #12

It’s actually more tragic than you think. Read about wars, who finances them and who profits from them. The soldiers aren’t dying for the freedom of people. Their lives and our tax dollars are being spent by multi-national corporations for their own interests. There is no need for war.
