He bleached it, he said it was because of some type of Skin disease that he got it bleached, but we have people saying no he just wanted to white he hated his race & we have people saying that it is true that he bleached his skin because of his skin disease...I guess the only one who knows the true answer is the man himself & God...then again...why should we care? I mean please forgive me if I sound rude but, we have our own sins...why worry about another persons sins who is already dead even when alive or another persons do about's when we must watch our own do about's ..... am I making sense?
Michael Jackson suffered from a condition called vitiligo, which causes you to lose pigmentation in the skin, and he also had discoid lupus, which can cause the same "whitening" effect. He did not have skin cancer. He did not bleach himself. Stop these ridiculous rumours already and let the man rest in peace.
I don't believe he turned it white on purpose. (see Colleen's answer) I think because he did have some plastic surgeries, people have been assuming he changed his skin color as well but it isn't so.

He paid lots of money and I'm not exactly sure how they did it but they like bleached his skin white. :S
yeah he also painted his nails black so people couldnt see the colour under his nail...
