Metal vs. Gospel

My mom listens to Gospel while I listen to Metal,when we lived in LA she always argued with me about Metal saying it’s bs and I’m like I don’t complain about her music so why mine,then here in Adelanto I put my singing name and symbol on my wall when I come home from school I see it ripped off my wall,the messed up part is that it was on the inside of my room not outside,doesn’t that seem kind of mean because it was in my room not outside of it where everyone could see it?

you have to remember you are in her house, it may be your room but it is her house, and as your mom she has the right to tear down whatever she wants, although I do believe that you both (I know you stated you did) need to respect each other. I dont know how you are or anything, so im just stating something, but if she does your laundry and make up your bed and all, she has a right to take it down b/c she also goes in there, which means it could affect her in some way by seein it. personally me, I dont listen to metal but I do listen to the hip hop/pop/rap, but I dont hang up stuff in my room for it, so my parents dont do anything bout it. also you say she listens to gospel,if she does, more likely she is a follower of christ, most people that do believes that metal is satanist and the symbols is a sign of the devil, she probably dont want the signs of the devil in her house, even if it is your room.

I had Slipknot CD (All Hope Is Gone) She (my mom) told me to give it back to my friend.. I don’t tell her to take her gospel cd’s back to the store. I mean, yeah I’m christain I listen to some christain rock bands. But I just don’t listen to gospel. It’s not my thing.

if im not mistaken, Gospel has a lot of christian ties, correct? Whatever happened to the open minded and loving nature of a christian? particularly a women? I’m no christian, but where in the bible does it say that Metal is evil? As far as she is concerned, you could be listening to CHRISTIAN metal…(try telling her that, it works. Especially if she cant tell what the band is saying ;) )

I feel for yeh, I can’t play meh guitar when my mom is home, because nothing I play is country or 70’s or below O.O.

I don’t know when they will learn that Metal never dies…

I think that’s REALLY stupid. It’s YOUR room so you should be able to have it the way you want. I’ll take metal over gospel ANY DAY! I feel bad for you… but of course I have issues too since my dad and his side of the family are preppy/judgemental. Luckily my mom.brother aren’t. But yea, I hope you get some freedom from that sometime soon…
