Why is it that men are more prone to murder than women are?

Answer #1

Testosterone maybe??

Answer #2

Hormones and culture. Testosterone does increase aggression and as we all know males have Testosterone. With culture tho, males are taught to be aggressive. Aggressive males get the girls, look at football and even in prison on visiting day, also males who are aggressive are look up as role models for boys. Boy learns aggression means your a man, boy turns into aggressive male, which then leads to aggressive actions.

Answer #3

Murder is a legal term, and you are not technically a murderer if you are found not-guilty of the offence.

If a man and a woman have a really serious fight (whoever “started” it) and one of them gets killed, it is statistically more likely that the woman dies (partly because men are on average bigger and stronger than women, but also because they are more aggressive).

Even if the man claims “self-defence” he is likely to be found guilty of murder, because juries think a man should not have to kill a woman in order to defend himself from her.

However, if a woman stabs a man in cold blood when there are no witnesses, and then claims self-defence, she has a good chance of being found not guilty of murder, and even if she is found guilty of manslaughter it is not murder and will not appear in the murder statistics.

Answer #4

men just are stronger than women.thats how society sees it.but i just see it that either sex can kill the opposite sex.

Answer #5

Who says men are more prone? Your question is poorly asked. More women kill their children than men. Women are more likely to get a man to do her killing for them. You do not consider abortion. Women are treated much differently than men in our legal system. You ask a question that seems simple and thus expect a simple answer. To break it down to it’s most base element, and assuming your question is valid, I would boil it down to simple genetics. Since before recorded history men have been the hunters (killers), protectors (killers), stronger (Darwinian), warriors (killers). Genetically, historically, and traditionally, men have had these roles thrust upon them. The greater or less production of naturally occurring substances in the body could be causal on different levels. Finally, there is a vast difference between being prone to murder, than committing the act. Since we cannot truly know a persons mind, we have no proof whatsoever that men are “more prone” to the act.

Answer #6

Men do a lot more of many things: murder, child molestations, crime in general, political leaders, Fortune 500 CEOs, Nobel prizes, aggressive driving, mathematicians.

But why? Biology? Testosterone? Society? Culture? We’ve found that in modern times women do a lot of things as good as men when society use to think a woman couldn’t do it at all. Men used to have more extra-marital affairs than men, but now that more women work outside the home, they have more affairs, too. Men are naturally bigger and stronger, but no one really knows why men and women behave differently.
