I’ve changed my major 3 times already. I’ve only been in college for 2 years! I’ve always wanted to do counseling, but I get attatched to situations too easy, so I figured that wouldn’t be good because I would always bring my work home. Then I wanted to go into Massage Therapy, but I definitly don’t want to touch people I don’t know ( I work in a spa and some of the things our massage therapists have gone through I didn’t want to object myself to that) After massage therapy I decided to go into Fitness. I have danced since I was 2 and I love working out, well I’m not doing that anymore either. lol. I recently went and talked to a career counselor and she helped me decide to go into Human Resources. I am well on my way to get into the program. I think you should try and talk to someone at your school, they can give you a few different ideas.

I thought I wanted to be a nurse from the time I was about 7 till my 4th year of college…then I realized it wasn’t what I wanted at all…and I decided that I wanted to do something in the medical field but not related to nursing. I think most people change their minds about their major quite often, at 18 years when you typically enter college how can you make a definitive decision on what you want to be for the rest of your life..

You could minor in criminology if it interests you. Also, a lot of people get a degree in one thing and don’t necessarily work in that field. A lot of times just having a college degree is what a company looks for to show you can commit to something for a period of time ( like college) and you have more then a hs education.

If you see yourself working in something that requires a specific degree, like law or medical or criminal justice, then talk to an advisor at school and see what they suggest.

it is very common for an individual to change majors…even several times! I read that the average person changes their major 4 times during college! it isnt necessary to choose a major right away…I am sure you know that most often you can take 2 years to declare a major since most of the courses you will take in those first 2 years are generals and needed for most any major you declare. one exeption is if you are in school on a specific scholarship that would require you to have a major declared. whatever you do…take your time! it wouldnt be a tragedy if you had to go to college an extra year or even two because you discovered your lifes calling into your 3rd year of college, changed your major, and had to take additional courses for your new major…it happens all the time! the most important thing is to find something you love…and make a living at it! that is the best combo for success! good luck!

I went in as a biology major, after a year decided it wasnt for me and switched to psychology. why dont you take a couple of classes in each area before you decide?
