Lovanex- stomach bruising and nodules

I recently had (left) shoulder surgery. Before surgery I had my physical and found out that I had phlabitis (spelling??) in my right arm due to an I’ve. After taking antibiotics, I had the surgery- after surgery I learned that I had a blod clot in my superficial left arm and in the deep tissue of the left arm. I am now taking Lovanex two times a day. I now have bruising on my stomach and have a nodule under the bruising. Is this normal?

I had to give myself Lovenox shots for over 2 months back last August and had them given to me in the hospital several times for surgeries before that. The bruising is normal . The knot could just be from the needle not being quite in the skin far enough. Call your doc to be sure.

Some tips on it, never give the shot in the same place less than 2 days apart. I did mine in a clock shape, starting at 12, then 1, 2, etc. Never give it in your arm or leg. It will hurt like hell for days if you do. I had a pelvic reconstruction and my stomach was tender form that so the nurse thought we would try it in my arm. I’ll never do that again, lol Make sure to clean the area with an alcohol pad first and let it dry. If it isn’t dry the shot may burn (yeah, I did that one too, lol)

I hope you get better soon and the Lovenox works for you as good as it did me.

Answer #4

Lovanox is given to thin the blood out, when you have a blood clot or DVT (deep vein thrombosis) It can make you bruise a little more easily..but its the type of thing that you dont want to mess around with or wait. Id call the MD on call and just ask if that is a normal side effect..and tell him where the injection site was. If there is some kind of contraindication or unusual side effect..you definately want to get it taken care of immediately.
