I'm unsure, but i think its got to do with stripping you're natural oils before adding artificial moisturizers, that way you dont have a greasy feeling, just "sleek, shiny, weightless hair"

It removes oil from your hair. thats why after you apply shampoo, if you just wash it out, your hair is no longer oily

That makes sense, do you know why they have it in products taht are supposed to moisturize your hair?
