Well, it’s going to be very temporary, and it’ll be a really muted color. And she would have to have like bright bleach blond hair for it to look alright. I would say to try some of that cheap pink dye that they always have at Sally’s Beauty Supply

food coloring will not dye your friends hair the best thing u can try coloured hair gel in pink it will work better on her hair if it is blond or light brown and it washs straight out if she doesn’t like it or try clip in hair peices or go to a hairdresser if she wants it to be longlasting and done the right way.

Food coloring won’t do a thing to dye hair permanently or semi permanently. It would give hair a temporary pinkish hue, but it won’t “dye” her hair pink and it may not even come out looking anything like pink depending on the color of her hair currently.

This is how haircolor works: You have two parts that you mix together equally–the color and the peroxide. The peroxide breaks down the cuticle of the hair and removes the current pigment , allowing the color to set in and take it’s place. Without peroxide, you’re not doing much to your hair but painting it with washable paint. And that could be a big mistake. For example, if you have blonde hair and you want to put blue in it such as food coloring. What do yellow and blue make? Green. So you may just end up with khaki colored hair. It will stain it that color for a few days unless you wash it out repeatedly with a harsh detergent such as dawn dishsoap. And even then it’s no gurantee it will come out all the way until it just wears off.

Coffee, Kool-Aid, food coloring–all these things are just stain for the hair. You can experiment with them…but why would you want to? Just go to a professional and get it done right.
