It takes about 6 weeks for a lip piercing to completely heal. You should always avoid playing with it because it increases the risk of rejection. Don’t remove the jewelery from the piercing until it’s fully healed because that increases your risk for an infection (and lip infections are not something you want). Try to remember to do saline washes or use the cleaning liquid if they give you any. That will promote faster healing.

If you remove it before it’s healed, you’ll only delay the proper piercing healing process. Also, you should keep in mind that a piercing is an open wound and your body knows it needs to heal itself. Taking out the jewelery will allow that would to shrink or close completely. This can happen in a matter of 15 minutes, so unless you fancy getting it re-pierced, just leave it in.

And after it heals, there’s no reason you can’t do things you would otherwise normally do: kissing, eating, etc.

  1. how long does it take to heal. around 3 months but usually around 6 months
  2. what are some things to avoid. dodgey places and inepirienced idiots who offer to do it at a salon or mall, those people are not profesionals
  3. how long till I can take it off. 3 months, it needs that time to heal, you should not take it out or attempt to change it untill at least 3 months
  4. similar to 3… can I take it off for say like 3 hrs and put it back on cz my parrents cant find out. if your parents dont want you to have it then dont be an idiot and get it. its on your face, and you cant hide your face weather you take it out imediantly or in a few days, they will see a swelling on your lip, and a very noticable hole, and they will tell you off for it
  5. I heard that you cant like make out when you first get one. is that true =O! yes, yyour not supposed to kiss or have oral sex for at leats 3 months after getting it done. this is because the bacteria in those things can infect the peircings and prolong its healing time

also be aware that a school with a dress code wont allow them and most jobs consider facial peircings unprofesional and unattractive again though, dont get it if you know your parents dont want you to have one eihter find a way to compromise with them or wait untill your older
