…except that Lincoln started off among the Whigs (before the emergence of today’s basically two-party systemin the US) and then changed parties to become a Republican. (In fact he was the first Republican president.). The rest of fremfrom’s answer I won’t comment on here.

Lincoln was a republican that was in favor of small government, and Freed the slaves.

Obama is a democrat in favor of exspanding government, which will enslave us all!

With all respect, there may be possible comparisons - but they can emerge only after Obama has been in office for a lot longer. How can anyone judge his performance after only a few months? Lincoln had almost four years.
