How to fix a camera lens error?

How do I fix my camera lens error , without taking to a shop and paying for it , is there anyway plzz , I didnt even drop the camera or anything , it just stopped turning on by itself , and all its says “lens error , restart camera “

have you taken the lens off and looked inside the camera? ther emight be dust on the mirror or even the connection pieces might be dirty (the little metal studs) and not sending the full information of the lens to the camera…

Also is it new? because that lens might not be made for that camera… Goodluck be careful they are delicate… I broke a Canon Rebel XTi my first time holding it lol

I know this is an old post, but this might help others. Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it’s sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera’s been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended …

Google the term “lens error”, and you’ll find many possible fixes. Look for a website in the results titled “Do It Yourself Digital Camera Repair” as it maintains a comprehensive list of these fixes.
