(I was just out with a friend and they stopped at a store on a Native Indian reservation to buy a cartoon of smokes. They were tax free, so half the price of what is normally charged. Is this legal? I didn't know they could do that. I live in Canada)
Its your mom Canadian? The laws from Canada and the States are quite a bit different. They had a little store with a big sign saying "tax Free" "cheap smokes", you'd think the police would come if it was illegal, but than I find it hard to believe our government would allow it, thats alot of money they lose.
Thanks so much for answering!! : )
I agree, I thought everything on reservations was tax free I just didn't know they could sell it everyone and they could leave the reservation with it. You'd think the government would have a fit. (and i was shocked how much taxes are on cigarettes! I don't smoke so am not up on prices).
Any day you learn something new is a good day! : )
Actually no she is not Canadian, and yes I agree the government wud lose a lot of money, and ur very welcome :-)
I'm pretty sure that anything on the reservation is tax free, so it doesn't matter who buys it.
I asked my mother who is a Native American and she says no its not legal to do that
