why should the skin be left on an apple? what health benefits does it have to do so?
On the other hand, almost all of the pesticide used on the apple are absorbed by the skin, so it'd be better to peel it off unless it's certified organic.
Like Stavosh said, the higher antioxidant activity, and also because it's wasteful if you leave the skin when it's perfectly edible.

Apples with the skin had higher antioxidant activity than apples without skin.
It's also roughage, fiber. Helps with digestion.
