Should I leave the avocado seed in the sunlight or does it need less light??

I’ve been planting avocado seeds in the house because i’ve read that it soundn’t be in direct sunlight till it has grown a stem but i have also read that the seed should always have direct sunlight. which one is true.

Yes keep in the sunlight. In about 3-4 weeks you’ll see it split, then a sprout will start growing out of the top, as roots form in the bottom. Are you growing it in a glass with two toothpicks? I used to love doing that. Make sure when you get about 4 leaves, you pinch it back to make it spread out, otherwise it’ll just grow straight up and lanky.

After I posted this, I checked at a reputable site. It says it will take 3 to 6 weeks to sprout… and don’t pinch it back till the plant is about 5 or 6 inches high. Then put in soil after new leaves sprout from the place you cut back. Here’s the link: . http://funadvice.com/r/15hnro18e8b
