No, they don’t numb you, (though the mouth wash will have a sorta tingly numbing effect) but there’s really no need, especially with a labret. I got my labret done a couple of years ago, and I’m a huge chicken when it comes to pain. But I would say it only hurt slightly more than a fire ant bite (I.e. not very much). In fact, the first thing I said was “That was it??” I don’t recall bleeding at all either. The only thing is it will be a little sore for a few days afterward. Just be sure you take REALLY good care of it after you get it done. Since it’s around your mouth, its easy to get stuff in it and you don’t want it to get infected. I rinsed w/ mouth wash & brushed my teeth (with toothpaste or just water) after every meal for a month to 6 wks and I never had a bit of trouble with it. Good luck and I hope you love your new labret!

when I got my tounge pierced, I was never given the option, they numbed it straight away. it really depends where you go. if you’re that worried, go into all the piercing parlours you know of and ask them. they will give you a straight answer and you’ll find the perfect place to go x

No piercer will numb you before a piercing, at least none that I’ve been to. (All professional shops).

I have a Monroe piercing, which is in a similar area to the labret. It hurt, sure, but only for a minute. It’s some pressure then a sting. I bled a lot, some people do with oral piercings, but I have thin blood. (Personally, blood doesn’t bother me much.) I took good care of the piercing, and it was mildly sore for a few days (not bothersome) and healed fully in a couple of weeks.

People pass out because they’re psyched up about the needle, the pain, or blood, not because of the pain. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but I can assure you-I don’t much care for pain (who does?), and I have never even COME CLOSE to passing out during a piercing, and I’ve had four done. Take a deep breath, try to relax your body, take NO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL, and think about something else while you’re getting pierced. I usually focus on a piece of the wall or some object in the room. By the time you feel the pain, the piercer is putting in the jewelry and its over with. You might feel a little dizzy afterwards because of the endorphins your body produces to deal with being in pain, but that’s about it. I promise, it’s not as bad as people make it out to be.

You can ask them if they will. I pierced my lip with a thumb tac and it didn’t even hurt! I iced it a little bit. . . It really depends how thick your lip is, If you like the piercing parlour and they don’t numb it, bring an ice pack. ;D

I think its stupid to numb the place…tattoos and piercing show the braveness and the courage of people to be different and take the pain…if it didnt hurt…why would we be scared of people with tattoos(unless you know the person well)…just imagine nerds with piercing holding their maths books…you get it,piercing is not just about a stud sticking through your skin…its more than that

Answer #8

Piercings are NEVER as bad as you think they’re going to be, so don’t psych urself out…I was sooo chicken to get my nose done, but turns out, it hurt no more than an earlobe piercing! And btw, my cuzzin got her labret done a couple weeks ago & she said it didn’t hurt at all. Bottom line? If you really want it, go for it. A couple seconds of mild pain is a small price to pay for a rockin labret piercing;)
