Kittens killed

My cat had 5 kittens when I was on holiday. My mate was looking after them for me but 1 day after they were born my mate went in to feed them and found them all dead. They had all be killed in the same way but she founde the tom cat in are house was it him or the mum. And now all the tom cats are hang around.

I would say the tom and the other toms are hanging around because after they give birth to a litter they become firtile again very quickly. Sorry about your kittens and make sure the mum gets lots to eat. She will no doubt be upset they are gone and she will look around and meow for them too.

It is most likely it would be the tom cat. The mother may have killed them if the tom cat had been messing with them as the scent of the tom cat may have rubbed off on the kittens and the mother may have lost her bond with them.

Usually when dogs have puppies you’re not meant to mess with them too much as the mother may turn her back on them. I’d imagine its the same for cats.

Its a shame but if she has kittens again it be best that shes with you.
