Kittens in trouble

My cat dragon just had four kittens and she won’t nurse them. I have experience with cats, but not a single cat I have had is acting like her. She’s trying to kill them! Can anyone help me with this problem?

Answer #1

Great I am so glad you have cleared us up on this Editor. I just don’t know much about the kitten area.

Answer #2

Well I don’t know too much about cats but I heard on animal planet that sometimes the mother will reject he babies and if she is trying to kill them then definitly don’t let them be with her if this is true talk to a vet or something because she could siriously hurt them … good luck!!

I had the same problem with my dog. I had to go to walmart and by puppy milk (they have kitten milk to) and feed it to them with a dropper or a syringe. she had 8 puppies so I basically had to stay up all night and all day caring and feeding them.

Answer #4

Give them away at least 4 awhile sorry I’ve no clue on cats all I know is if a mother doesnt have perental instincts its not safe

Answer #5

Cat Dragon? Is this like a lizard or a cat? I am confused on what we are talking about. I would call a Vet.

There is kitten milk at walmart that needs to be feed on an hourly basis. They must be kept warm, under a light and on a heating pad. You will need to mix a little baby cereal with the milk. I understand from a friend of mine that kittens seem to do better if they have some baby cereal mixed in the milk.

We need Editor, she has been nursing kittens.

take the kittens away asap she has abandened them honestly if you give her chance she will kill them go to your nearest pet store and buy some kitten formula and buy some kitten bottles and start to bottle feed and remember kittens are like babies you must wind them to and keep them out the way of your cat go back to the way with her before she had the kittens and get more info on bottle feeding kittens they should be fine I bottle fed my kitten from 5 days and now shes nearly 2 years old happy and healthy.

Answer #7

Do they have fur? Does the mother have milk ? are they really tiny?

they’re probably premature.

Answer #8

Hey there,

Yup, I do foster neo-natal kittens for the animal shelter where I live. Please do not give the kittens away, like someone suggested. They will die without the proper care.

Buy something called KMR Stage 1. (Kitten Milk Replacer). They sell it at Walmart, Petsmart, Petco, etc. Buy the powdered kind. Then, by a kitten nursing kit. It’s a bottle with nipples, like for a baby.

Mix 1 part powder to 3 parts WARM water in the kitten baby bottle. Pick the smallest nipple, and cut a hole in it with scissors. Every 2-3 hours, feed them the milk. Every hour is too much, even the Mom couldn’t make that much milk.

When they are done eating, stimulate them to use the bathroom. Take a damp paper towel, and rub it on their genital and anus area. They will urinate and poop, only from this. They will NOT do it on their own. in the wild, the Mom licks their bottoms to make them go to the bathroom, their little bodies can’t do it yet. If you forget this, they will die.

When they aren’t eating, put them in a small crate or other safe area, with blankets, towels and something warm. Either a heating blanket or balloon full of hot water. Keep feeding them every few hours.

After about 7-10 days, their eyes will open. In 3-4 weeks, you can introduce them to litter and some wet kitten food. At 6 weeks, they can get their shots and go into loving homes.

Good luck.
