Kitten with worms

My kitten has roundworms, we bought and gave him otc medicine yesterday. He went a few times .. No worms, but today he went and .. There were several in side his feces.

Is this a result of them dying b/c of the medicine .. Or do they typically come out in feces anyway?

Answer #1

Both they come out when you worm you kitten or may come out when infected.

I would check with your Vet and get a wormer from them and put your kitten on a monthly wormer. Worms will come back for the eggs still in the host that the wormer may not have removed and reinfect your cat.

From what you are saying it sounds like your kitten is infected with worms that will need more than one treatment. If you are seeing them it sounds like Roundworm which is very hard to get rid of. The worms actually travel into the lung and can cause a respiratory problem. So the problem may not be just in the intestine.

See your vet and take the med you bought over the counter.

Answer #2

this is the adults dying from the medicine, you have to watch when you buy over the counter meds, because if you kill the adults to quick they can get stuck and cause a problem. Most of the time you only see the eggs in the stool under a microscope. rounds come from fecal, oral transmission
