Why are keyboards designed the way they are?

I mean instead of being alphabetically ordered. I prefer this way of course but I find it odd that the people who invented the computers, keyboards and other hardware didn’t make it alphabetically ordered.

Answer #1

No idea. IT is weird though. There must be some type of pattern… Good question. You should ask someone from a Best Buy or somewhere that specializes in computers.

Answer #2

Idk why the “it” is like that… haha

Answer #3

I heard that in the beginning, people designed the typewriters and keyboards in alphabetical order and so, the people were used to it and typed like really fast and hard which caused the keys to break more quicker and they had to replace the keys every now and then. So to confuse the people, the keyboards started getting designed in the QWERTY layout. This caused to people to type more slowly as they weren’t used to this layout so the keys wouldn’t get broken or anything. This is the reason that I heard, can’t be sure though.

Answer #4

Answer #5

Answer #6

I read it somewhere. This is the true reason i think..

Answer #7

QWERTY was created thanks to the type writers old way of writing (having all the letters in alphabetical order) ALWAYS jamming the pins together when a person would write very quickly, and thus a new system was needed….
