Just why did Palin set up a new "personal" email account in 2006?

Palin’s claim that the email address was “personal” is a bit of a stretch - it had “gov palin” in the address, AND it was setup post her ascension to the governor’s office in 2006. So do you really believe that she did NOT have a personal email account before this?

I don’t think so. Why is it so hard for people to understand this is a blatant violation of disclosure laws?

Answer #1

because most people believe what they want to believe, and not the FACTS. that’s America for you. :o)

Answer #2

McCain doesn’t even know what an e-mail is…

Answer #3

as far as I know , hacking into someones e-mail is punishable by jail time, doesnt matter WHEN or WHY they set up the account.. if SHE was to ask you why you set up so many accounts, would you feel compelled to answer? I would probably answer with “ it’s none of your business”… but because she is now a target of the obama campaign, this is a big deal… the big deal is that , as a citizen of these great United States, she is protected by the same privacy laws(except required financial statement etc.) as anyone else. the person who did that SHOULD to some time and maybe people in political races will reconsider their stategies when it comes to trying to smear someone…why did she set up these accounts? who knows.. it was none of our business when she started them and it should be none of our business now…

Just Guessing — Like she did, I set up a yahoo account only to join other websites so they won’t polute my real one with spam and other junk

Answer #5

People are just looking for reasons to make her look bad. I have three emails. One is my work email, one is my email for things such as bills and family, and the one is for personal stuff like websites and whatnot. It is not that big of deal that she made an email address.

Answer #6

Who’s to know…I have about 4 email accounts, my husband has 6…Is when they were set up, and how many there are, particularily meanful???

Is she the only governor out of 50 who has set up an email account since they took office? Maybe this isn’t so uncommon?? If it’s such a blatant violation…we should probably send out the email cops and investigate ALL lawmakers.

Answer #7

phrannie, absolutely.

Let’s start with the presidents’ unlawful use of RNC email to cover up white house doings for a few years, and then work our way down…after all, if we can’t hold the highest officials responsible, their bad behavior might “trickle down” to lower level employees & officials.

Besides which: at the last large corporate I worked for, they required you to use their email to conduct business, AND it was a violation of company policy to use a personal email to conduct corporate business.

So…if that’s the case for a large company, and it’s the case for government, why oh why did she set up a “gov palin” email? Why not “sarah_hockey_momma”? Or how about “palin_plays_hockey”?

In other words: why make it look “official” if it wasn’t intended to be, and couldn’t be, an official email? Why have so many co-workers listed in the address book?

Sure, it could have been she was socializing with co-wokers, that’s fine…however, she should have (again) been emailing them at their personal addresses, NOT those run by the government.

Responsibility…I don’t want my tax dollars spent on an email system that gets used for idle chit chat, it’s there to conduct the affairs of the government.

And yep, I have four emails I use, routinely. One for each business (2) and two personal accounts. Then, I also monitor the “global” email for this business, but that’s not my personal inbox.

And, no, the various business emails & personal ones don’t “mix”…

Answer #8

maybe it was just to set up something professional. she needed an email address that said she was governor, said she was palin, yet wasn’t a government email account. I think she’s kinda crazy, but at the same time I think people might be looking in to this stuff a little too deep.
