dont worry over your appointment.your doctor will ask you when your last period was…she will then get a wheel wich has dates on and she will work out from your last period of when abouts your baby is due…she may on the second or third appointment take blood pressure…im also pregant and was spotting so I had to have an early pregnacy assessment scan done, this wasnt like a normal scan it was a probe used internally,,dont worry I only had this done at such an early stage to check the baby was ok due to me spotting,,but I can tell you it didnt hurt at all,and it was wounderful to see my baby on the screen (9weeks pregnant and the baby was so small but perfect ,..he she was moving and even waved at me:).my next scan the normal scan most woman have is at 12weeks..so I’ve another 3 weeks to wait wich I cant wait for..this is my first pregnancy..but do yourself a favour dont listen to all the horror stories otherwise youll go crazy with them and worry yourself sick over it…and im sure its not as bad as some say..if it were that bad why do some woman go on to have 4 kids,,6 kids and 8 kids, and so on…point made:) very best of luck to you xxx

I’d have to disagree. Most of the comments here are actually very helpful. If someone is straight up being rude, their comments do get deleted. But the thing is, people ask public questions here. You have to sort of expect negative comments back. Its just the way things are. If someone asks a dumb question, they will get dumb answers. As for your question… your first appointment will probley be a lot of verbal work. The doctor will explain everything to you then. They aren’t just going to start doing things right away. So, you will know what will be happening before hand.

It all depends on how far you and your doctor think you are. If you are unsure about the first day of your last period and you are still very early, they may do a vaginal ultrasound, just because the baby is not high enough for them to do a regular ultrasound. The first appointment will probably just be filling out a lot of paperwork, checking your height and weight, scheduling appointments for things like your first ultrasound and blood tests, for things like gestational diabetes, HIV, and other things. Try not to worry to much, it shouldn’t be that bad. Good luck and congratulations on your new baby!!! :)
