1. Pick Canada, not the US.
2. Seriously – Canada, not the US. We were never on the best footing to start with (60% of believe the Bible is the literal truth. Like…men and women and dinosaurs living together peacefully. I’m not joking), and no we’ve pretty much run things into the ground. No health care and no universal civil rights combined with a looming depression and a draconian attitude towards anyone not Christian or who smokes pot makes this a pretty dismal place to live. Canada. Seriously.

Do you ever notice that when people point out America’s problems (or “bash,” as some would call it), they offer specifics, but when jingoists laud America’s greatness, they use hazy nonspecific platitudes? “A shining star of freedom” and so forth.

So, seriously, if you would like to point out some of these areas in which the United States is leading the world in, that would be super duper. And it shouldn’t be hard, since apparently, we’re leading the world “in almost every category.”

Pick a category – education, civil rights, health care, infant mortality, unemployment, literacy, economic growth, government waste, religious freedom, teen pregnancy, judicial effectiveness – in which we are “leading the world.”
