I'm a part time worker, and I specifically told my boss I want rocwork no more than 3 and sometimes 4 times a week. Since summer started she has me working 6 days a week, 9 hours a day. I handed her my summer holidays like myself and every other employer was supposed to do but she said I can't take holidays, because "every week is taken." Which is no fair because there are weeks where 3 people are gone on holidays, so why can't I take holidays at all? I can't change jobs because there legit is nowhere else to go where I live, I live in a small town.
Did you ever sign a form saying you are willing to work more than 8 hours a day? What is your establishment's "regular" work hours? According to the Canadian laws, you cannot work more than 8 hours unless you had signed an agreement or the regular work hours of your establishment. I remember signing such an agreement when I began working. Also, you are a part time worker. Partime hours are 30 hours or less per week. You are much exceeding this amount. In addition, if you work more than 44 hours per week, this is considered overtime. You should be paid time and half for those excess hours. I suggest you read those labor laws over, find out what you need about the establishment you work for (like the regular work day hours) and then approach them with this information. From what you are saying, it just sounds like they are taking advantage of you.
