I've got a question about lip rings

I got my lip done about 3 weeks ago and I had a steel ring in and it turns out that my body isent to fond of that so I had to pull that and replace it with a titanium ring not that big of a deal now the problem is that since I had the steel in there for so long like a week my lip got a ,ild inect now here is where it gets reel tricky I’ve got to put a retainer in there for like 8 to 24 hours depending on the day of the week cause im in the navy any one got a good idea how to get the infect to go away JW.

well I don’t know I got my lip pierced and they replaced with a smaller bar a week later, so I guess it depends on how your body reacts to wounds… mine still kinda hurts but thats because I had to put a small bar in because the ball on the other one (the one they replaced) fell off… so all I can say is if it’s really painful and looks bad, you should call the place you got it done at and ask them what you should do… when I had nose down the first time my job made me take it out like two weeks after I got it done and so I would change it out a lot and that was EXTREMELY painful I ended up letting hole close up because I was infected and too painful to deal with, now I just got redone and its been about a year since I left it, and I’m fine… but I ended up finding out that your not suppose to change your nose piercing for 6months… haha I changed it in two weeks…never again!

so youve taken it out after 3 weeks of having it? that could very well be why its not healed you need to leave a lip ring in for at least 3 MONTHS before you attemopt to change it or take it out a piercing is a wound, and no wound has healed in 3 weeks taking it out earlier aggrivates the area, can make it swell and will prolong healing time also you dont just have something made of steel in it it needs to be surgical steel if you happened to be allergic to surgical steel then its fine to try the titanuim one but because your contantly takeing it out and putting the retainer in (I assume to hide it from soemone) your constantly aggrivating athe area and prolonging its healing time it can NOT heal if your always taking it out either leave it in for at least 3 months so it can heal properly or take it out and get it re-done when you can actually keep it in
