It is so hard to get a date

Right, I’m 17 years old, 6’ 3” so I’m pretty tall. I’m told I’m a nice guy and I’m not going to say anything contrary to that. I like helping people out, I love music, movies, etc, but what really bugs me is that I can never meet a nice girl who I like and is also single. It just seems that there is a lack of girls even remotely interested in me. I’m not saying I’m the best looking guy around, but I mean not every single girl around can be so uninterested in me that I’m still single. I have friends that are girls, I am happy to be their friend and they’re happy to be mine and sometimes it looks like they might be slightly interested but in the end it just seems like nothing happens. If you read my previous question then you might understand a bit more about this.

My question really is, what am I doing wrong? Are they scared of me? Because I can be a very gentle person and also a good listener. If a girl asked me out and I wasn’t interested I would be nice enough to let them down gently instead of a down right no.
